Cozy and content, this little Chickadee is perched comfortably on a newel post all made from American chestnut. The wood grain on the Chickadee and the newel post is beautiful. The ball part of the newel post was hand carved, not turned on a lathe. There are lots of natural cracks and worm holes in the newel post and it was given a worn painted look with a crackle finish. A primitive red metal heart hangs on the front and is a great Valentine or any time gift!
