This pair of chicks are guarding a very large egg they found and seem to be having a discussion as to whose turn it is to be sitting on the egg! Hand carved from American chestnut and note there are a few visible worm holes in this piece. The large egg sits on a mini intricately carved basket that is unpainted to show the natural beauty of the wood. The grass is made from chestnut shavings and the chick's feet are made from copper wire, textured then painted by the artist. These chicks are really cute!
